Craig has been appointed to a number of notable positions since retiring from the NSW Police Force including Lead Security and Risk Consultant, Vivid Festival Sydney 2016 and 2017, Lead Security and Risk Consultant for Property NSW, introducing an operational readiness framework for New Years Eve 2016 and other major events held across the Sydney Harbour Foreshore, Lead Security and Risk Consultant, Department of Premier and Cabinet, New Years Eve 2016 and Australia Day 2017 Crowd Management as well as Head of Security, Rugby League World Cup 2017.
Craig has consulted to major organisations in the area of Risk Management, Threat Environment and Counter Terrorism training including consulting with ACES Group to Venues West in WA. Additionally, Craig has completed major risk reviews for Roads and Maritime Services NSW, Arts NSW and Dexus Property Group. Craig has partnered with Deloitte in the areas of Risk management, Recovery and Resilience and provided counter terrorism response training (Responding to Workplace Emergencies) to Prime Group, Red Dawn, Village Roadshow and ANZAC War Memorial.
Craig held a senior management role as Commander of the State Planning Unit, Major Events & Incidents Group, focused on strategic leadership, public order management, emergency management, strategic planning, continuous improvement, risk management and business/ operations planning. Craig was responsible for the development, maintenance and lecturing of the Incident Commanders Course at the NSW Police Force Leadership College.
Craig was the key NSWPF contact for The Department of Premier and Cabinet (Protocol and Special Events Division) and Destination NSW. This included responsibility for activation of the Police Operations Centre/Government Coordination Centre in the event of a major incident or emergency.
Craig led the NSWPF Operational planning response for over 100 Major Operations State-wide including operational support for emergency management response this extended interstate and abroad. Major coordination operations included the NSWPF response for the G20 events in NSW held during 2014 and was part of the security working group planning the G20 events within Australia for 2014, the NSWPF Security response and planning to the 2015 Asian Football Cup and the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Craig’s diverse background, expert knowledge and respected reputation has resulted in many invitations as a key note speaker both in Australia and abroad. Craig’s speaking duties have covered The Terrorism and Major Events APEC meeting in Vancouver 2012, Asia Pacific Venue Management Conference 2014, Asia Pacific Venue Management Congress 2015, FIFA Zurich, Switzerland for Australia World Football Cup bid 2010, OSAC (US Government overseas security advisory panel), National Australia Day Committee, Crowd safety Seminar, Sydney 2014. Craig’s more recent speaking engagements include, The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) Leaders Forum 2016 Melbourne and The Global and Cyber Security Forum, Aberdeen Scotland presenting on Understanding Today’s Security Panorama.
Craig has represented the NSW Police Force at many international events including the Australian Government Observers program Qatar Asian Cup 2011, observer to NYPD security operations in support of United Nations General events in New York and major event security planning with other Federal Agencies in Washington.
Craig has had notable membership appointments as Director, Asia Pacific Special Olympics Board from 2012, Member of Counter Terrorism & Special Tactics Command “Strike Force Eagle” Incident Management Team, attained Secret and Top Secret National Security clearance, Member of NSW Government Events Operations Group – Executive (policy development) and a member of NSW Police Force Strategic Intelligence Board.
Craig’s current membership includes, Member Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD), Monash University Alumni Member since 2012, Director, Asia Pacific Special Olympic Games, Member of NSW Government EOG (Events Operations Group) Executive (policy development), Member of Bathurst V8 Supercars Advisory panel.
Craig holds an Executive Masters Degree in Public Administration; an Advanced Diploma in Police Management, Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, Advanced Diploma is Security Risk Management, Diploma in Training and Assessment Systems, Diploma of Event Management and Cert IV in Frontline Management (Business).
In 2015 Craig was awarded the prestigious Australian Police Medal in the Queen’s birthday honours for distinguished service by a member of an Australian Police Force.

Alan Clarke APM EMPA (Syd Uni)
Alan Clarke is a former NSW Police Assistant Commissioner, retiring after forty years of service in November 2016.
His diverse career included numerous Command roles such Local Area Commander, Firearms Licensing, Alcohol Licensing Enforcement, Drug Policy, Police Public Affairs Branch and NSW Director of Crime Prevention. Alan was appointed as the Commander of the Major Events and Incidents Group (MEIG) in 2008 and was promoted to Assistant Commissioner in 2009.
As Commander MEIG Alan was responsible for all high-risk public order response, major event planning and emergency operations. As such, he oversaw operations such as Sydney New Years Eve Celebrations, Sydney Mardi Gras, Anzac Day Events Statewide and Australia Day Celebrations. He was also the NSW Police Commander for the 2015 Asia Football Cup, 2015 Cricket World Cup as well as security operations such as G20 2014, and numerous dignitary visits.
In addition Alan has led many significant corporate projects such as the introduction of ‘Taser’ as a police tactical option and implementation of Body Worn Video for front line officers. He was also a member of the NSW Police Corporate Systems Management Committee, (overseeing a complete upgrade of the state firearms licensing system) the Commissioners Executive Team and Chair of the Command Level Training Board.
In 2010 Alan was appointed to the position of Deputy State Emergency Operations Controller and assumed responsibility for NSW Police Emergency Management Unit. As a result he performed the role of State Emergency Operations Controller during emergencies such as the 2013 Blue Mountains Bush Fires, numerous flood events and the Lindt Café Terrorism Incident. He coordinated interstate and overseas deployments in response to Victorian bushfires, Queensland floods and the Christchurch earthquake. Alan also held positions on the State Emergency Management Committee and the State Rescue Board.
In 2014 Alan was tasked by the Commissioner to introduce a framework for police safety and security following the heightened terrorism threat. He subsequently devised statewide security guidelines, which were adopted under the title of ‘Alert’. He also established and chaired the Alert Safety Management Committee, which assessed threats and co-ordinated security reviews and upgrades to premises, including Police Headquarters and the Sydney Police Centre.
Prior to his retirement Alan prepared a proposal for a full upgrade to the NSW Police Operations Centre incorporating the latest in security technology. Most particularly vision analytics, weak artificial intelligence and knowledge boards incorporating the latest in geo-special data.
Alan is recognised as an expert in his field. He was a visiting teaching fellow of the NSW Police Command College, has presented at conferences on an international basis and undertaken study tours in the United Kingdom, USA, Switzerland, Germany and Canada.
He has developed an international network of colleagues in police, security, intelligence and emergency management fields. He holds an Executive Master of Public Administration (Sydney University) and is in receipt of numerous medals and awards including the prestigious Australian Police Medal, Commissioner’s Commendation for Bravery and Commissioner’s Certificate of Merit for event Security.

Gavin Rowley is a highly driven Senior Management Executive with over 15 years’ experience in driving strategic and operational excellence and innovation at the interface between Government and the private sector. He excels in developing and leading high performance teams and building stakeholder and client relationships to optimise the customer experience and service level.
Gavin has specialist experience in implementation of performance programs to optimise building and place management service delivery. This includes business case and budget preparation and budget management through the full contract procurement, management and governance lifecycle.
Gavin held executive management roles in both Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and Property NSW. As the Director, Operations for both organisations he provided strategic direction and management of the operations team, which covered the management of all security services, compliance, cleaning, waste management and horticultural services. Gavin oversaw the development of tender specifications for all service contracts.
Gavin has considerable experience in the delivery of Major Events he was responsible for driving and providing direction for the planning and delivery of operations and logistic support for State Significant major events on the Foreshore.
Gavin successfully delivered New Year’s Eve Operations in both Darling Harbour and The Rocks Precinct’s since 2003.
Gavin was responsible for driving the formulation of emergency plans, traffic management, security, contingency plans, evacuation plans, public compliance, regulatory control and risk management plans for Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and the later Property NSW.
Gavin worked closely with key stakeholders and Government agency forums providing expert advice on operations and logistic coordination within Foreshore precincts.
Gavin was a member of the NSW Police Counter Terrorism Steering Committee, For Places of Mass Gatherings. This committee was to provide leadership and whole of Government coordination in implementing the nationally consistent approach for the protection of mass gatherings by providing owners and operators with jurisdictionally developed guidance material.
Gavin recently commenced with the industry leading, Sheridan Consulting Group. The work with Sheridan Consulting Group renews the collaboration of Craig Sheridan and Gavin working together in the planning and delivery of State Significant Events particularly in the fields of Security, Risk Management and Emergency Management.
Greg Butler is a retired Detective Chief Inspector, completing over thirty years of ethical service, with the NSW Police Force. Performing duties in operational, investigative, work health and safety areas plus community safety via event planning and concluding in the management of major statewide significant projects.
Greg held management roles in the Major Events and Incidents Group, completing, managing or oversighting projects addressing leadership, public order management, emergency management, strategic planning, continuous improvement , policy writing and review along with training and risk management.
Greg has considerable experience in the planning, development, implementation, management and monitoring of emergency responses regarding workplace and community safety strategies, including as the NSW Police Force, State Coordinator for OH&S and his work with the NSW Police Association.
Greg was a member of NSW Government Task forces including the NSW Government Pandemic Task Force, which gathered experts from each key combat agency and was managed by the Premiers and Cabinet Department. This Task Force prepared detailed plans regarding the management of the community during a health Pandemic.
Since retiring in 2012 Greg has operated as an independent Consultant in the areas of Emergency Management, Work Health and Safety plus as an authorised consultant for Beaware Solutions Pty Ltd. Greg has completed work for all types of clients including State and Local Governments, non-government organisations, child care and aged care organisations plus all varieties of business groups.
Greg recently commenced with the industry leading, Sheridan Consulting Group. The work with Sheridan Consulting Group renews the team of Craig Sheridan and Greg working together, which was extremely successful during their time at NSW Police.
Greg has extensive experience delivering training including with TAFE NSW. Greg trains in Work Health and Safety and ethics. His qualifications and experience ensures he provides a broad spectrum approach to risk management for all clients.
Shane is a former New South Wales police officer with over 20 years operational experience. Shane had a highly decorated policing career including criminal investigation, human resources, emergency management, occupational health and safety, risk management, as well as numerous task forces including a high profile sexual assault matter.
Shane is an expert in Risk and Emergency Management and was responsible for implementing the command management framework to new satellite police stations in the Greater Sydney area as well as implementing Strategic Risk Assessments as required.
